Funding as part of successful DisAbility Management

Funding supports employers in the hiring and employment of employees.

In many cases, people with disabilities face unemployment. Despite legal regulations, such as the obligation to employ people with disabilities and protection against discrimination, companies often leave this talent pool unused. Public funding supports employers in the training, hiring and employment of employees with disabilities and chronic diseases.

Compensatory tax

Regarding the employment of people with disabilities, according to the Disability Employment Act, companies must hire one beneficiary person with a disability (with a recognized degree of disability of at least 50 percent) for every 25 employees.

If this statutory employment obligation is not met, the employer will be obligated to pay an annual compensatory tax by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Depending on the total number of employees in the company, it can amount to EUR 404 per month and must be paid in arrears for the past calendar year.

The compensatory tax payments made by the companies are earmarked for the compensatory tax fund, and in turn flow back to companies and employees with disabilities to increase accessibility and to finance programs for employment, work equipment, subsidies, etc.

Consequently, employing people with disabilities has the following financial advantages: On the one hand, the compensatory tax payments can be reduced and, on the other hand, the company receives financial resources for hiring people with disabilities.
